Jen,
That is so cool. How do you get meet the performers? I would love to do this with AJ. Your boys looked like they had a blast!

Michele,

We go to the Center For the Visually Impaired w/ our boys once a month or so. They have a peer group there (way cool to have multiple kids w/ albinism including one girl adopted from China...and from the same province!) It is supposed to be a group to see if the kids are having any difficulties and to teach the parents how to advocate if there is a need...like in a prek setting...or if they need additional assistance say w/ depth perception...some kids as you know may need cane training...to give them that traing (their class is all considered to be super highly functional...and is made up of all kids w/ albnism.there are other peer classes w/ varying degrees of vision limitations and diagnosis) The boys are doing great btw. so far not needing anything additional, but we are working on teaching them how fun magnifiers and things are and trying to get them used to the idea of slant boards so they'll be comfortable when the time comes....anyway, it was through them, the CVI in Atlanta that it was set up. The circus does it every year w/ them. We didn't actually see the full circus through this event, but got to meet some of the performers. and it definitely brings it all so much closer for them...
It was the closest I've been to an elephant that's for sure!

was very neat....can't wait to do it again next year. By then the whole concept of circus will mean even more to them.
